5 Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Website

by Gretchen DeVault | August 25, 2020

Setting up a website for your business is exciting, but getting people to visit your website is the next half of the battle. Driving traffic to your site is crucial for your success.

Here are five key ways to get more visitors to your website:

1. Content, Content, Content: Blog posts (extra points for evergreen content)

Write blog posts! The more content you create, the more you can share, and the more visible you’ll be. Bonus points for creating evergreen content that can be recycled over and over again.

2. Paid advertising: Facebook ads, Google, etc.

If you have the budget for it, investing money to share ads and content on social media is a great way to drive traffic to your site. You can also pay to move your site up higher on search engine results like Google and Bing.

3. Organic social media

Remember those blog posts you wrote? Share those on social media. Posting your content to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram will drive clicks and bring more people to your site.

Bonus points: if you created evergreen content, you can share the blog posts every month.

Bonus bonus points: if you boost the posts through paid advertising!

4. Email marketing: Email newsletters, sales emails

Email marketing is an often-overlooked aspect of driving traffic, but sending out a newsletter and sales emails reminds people that you’re there! Keeping a template and general outline on hand can make this task super quick, but super effective.

5. Referral traffic: Guest blogging, be a guest on podcasts, get links on other websites, PR

Word of mouth marketing can be super effective for driving people to your site. Being a guest on a podcast, taking over a blog or social media account for a day, or getting your links featured on some else’s website can be a great way to find a wider audience and reach new people.

Don’t forget to review your website analytics on a regular basis. Determining where your visitors come from and what kind of content got them to click through to your site is key to knowing where to focus your future efforts.
