FAQs

WEBSITE FAQs

I know we need a new website, but don’t know anything about the process or where to even start. How do I begin?
No worries! We can help. You can learn about our process on our website services page.

How much does a website cost?
Just like the cost of a house can vary, so does the development of a website; it depends on many factors. Our website projects generally start in the $7,000 range for basic business sites and go upward depending on your unique needs.

What is the payment schedule?
We are a small business and as much as we’d love to finance our clients’ websites, it’s just not realistic for us. We do understand the need to break payments for our clients and have a standard payment schedule that applies to all of our projects. We begin work on a project as soon as we receive a 50% deposit. After that, we invoice twice upon completion of key deliverables.

  • 50% deposit up front
  • 30% installment once functionality and design has been agreed upon
  • 20% balance once the application has been tested and it is ready to go live.

How long does it take to design and build a website?
The time it takes to produce a website depends on the size and complexity of your site and the quality of content that you have prepared. We have a very thorough process and sites typically take about 3 months from kickoff to launch. That timeframe includes strategy, design, copywriting and development.

Do I need my own domain name and web hosting?
You do need your own domain name, but if you do not already have one we can facilitate this. We do offer hosting as part of our maintenance packages so you do not necessarily need to do this yourself.

Will my website work on mobile devices?
Absolutely! All the websites we buildwork seamlessly on desktops, tablets and mobile devices.

Do you develop e-commerce/online store websites?
Yes. Absolutely! We’d love to talk to you about your project.

Do you write content for websites?
Yes, we do. We have multiple copywriters on our team that focus on creating search-friendly web pages as well as writing meta descriptions for each page to optimize for SEO.

What is a domain name?
A domain name is your address on the internet. Typically this would be something like: yourbusinessname.com.

What is web hosting?
Web hosting is a service that allows your website to be viewed on the Internet. Simply put, it’s a computer housed in a data centre that runs your website. Typically, we host sites through WPEngine which specializes in WordPress websites.

What is a Content Management System?
A Content Management System (CMS) is a tool that allows you to maintain the pages of your website yourself, without having to know how to code. A CMS allows you to edit and add pages, images, products or blog posts on your website. No additional software is required. You just need a web browser and an internet connection.

What Content Management System do you use?
Our preferred CMS is WordPress. WordPress is the most popular open-source CMS in the world and has thousands of developers constantly improving it and contributing plugins to extend it’s functionality. We can also build HTML sites.

Do you provide training?
We do indeed. In addition to providing you with a customized training session, we also include a library of website training videos in your WP Admin panel that you can access 24/7.
