The truth is, it’s not as complicated as the SEO industry would have you believe! What makes it seem mystifying is the sheer amount of misinformation floating around. 

You’ve probably been bombarded with unsolicited LinkedIn messages from so-called “SEO experts” promising first-page results for your target keywords. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Even as a website maintenance company offering SEO services, we regularly get ‘advice’ telling us how to improve despite having stellar talent on our team! These unregulated snake oil salesmen often treat SEO as a cash grab, making lofty promises and delivering zero results.

Ignoring those feeble attempts to take your money is your best course of action because, at its core, SEO isn’t just about ranking on the first page for keywords. It’s about creating a site that meets the needs of both users and search engines.

SEO isn’t a magic bullet. Anyone who thinks they can trick Google or use forbidden techniques to circumvent the time-honored process of building authority is gravely mistaken.
